D. Christine Thurman

D. Christine Thurman was born and raised in North Florida. She attended Tallahassee Community College and graduated from Florida State University in 1999 with a Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Social Science and Business. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and was the recipient of the Memphis Bar Irvin Bogatin Social Justice Award from the Memphis Bar Association.

After graduation, Christine returned to Tallahassee and focused her law career in the areas of adoption, business and civil litigation as well as family law and estate planning. In 2011, Christine was named as a “Rising Star” in the Superlawyers magazine. In 2013 and after 8 years with Gentry & Thurman, she opened Thurman Law Firm, PLLC.  Christine is focusing her practice on adoption, family law, collaborative law and probate/estate planning. Further, Christine is involved in the Family law section and legislation involving or affecting children in the dependency system.

In addition to working on the Florida Bar Family Law Section’s Legislative Committee in the past, she has also been a  member of Children’s Issues Committees, and Guardian Ad Litem Legislative Committees. Christine gained valuable experience working with various adoption agencies and she intends on staying very involved with children’s issues in the future.

Christine is on the Executive Committee for the Capital Collaborative Group, Executive Committee for the Tallahassee Community Foundation Board, Executive Committee for the Good Samaritan Network, Florida Adoption Council and is a member of the William Stafford Inns of Court.

Personally, Christine is an active member of Emerge Church. When not working, Christine spends her free time with Jay and kids, family, friends and her dogs, horses, and cats. She enjoys travel, football, horseback riding, and wine tasting.
